Rescue and Coordination Equipment
Our Equipment is here to serve you!
Thanks to generous donations from our community, HEET is able to buy and maintain a variety of specialty equipment enabling us to accomplish our mission. These range from rescue equipment like the Anderson Sling to our Staging Trailers. See some of our equipment in action below!
Anderson Sling
The Anderson Sling was developed for veterinary use to support horses during recovery and rehabilitation. The sling has found many additional uses, such as lifting downed animals and even securing and lifting horses for air rescue via helicopter! It is with your donations that we’ve been able to purchase two of the Anderson Slings for use in our county. Both slings are held by CAL FIRE and are at Fire Stations 21 (SLO Airport) and 30 (Paso Robles) which house Rescue 21 and Rescue 30 respectively. HEET routinely trains with the crews of both stations (and adjacent districts) to ensure that we are all familiar with how to properly attach the Anderson Sling. See more pictures here.
Animal Rescue Glides
The Animal Rescue Glides are used as a backboard for large trapped animals. HEET has used the glides in a variety of emergencies, including horse trailer accidents, animals trapped in a ravine, and other situations where the animal is unable to move itself. HEET regularly trains with CAL FIRE on how to respond to horse trailer accidents, as they are often a horse owner’s worst nightmare!
HEET has recently purchased two more sets of glides (in addition to the two sets currently housed with CAL FIRE Stations 21 and 30 (with the Anderson Slings). These two additional sets are strategically located to provide quick response anywhere in the County. When you donate to HEET, we are able to purchase this equipment and make it available to veterinarians and fire/rescue personnel. Thank you!
