SUMMARY:Loading Rodeo August 6\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Loading Rodeo: \nAugust 6th   8:45 a.m. \nWranglerette Arena   7785 Aragon Road\, Atascadero \nSomething different for this training. We ask everyone to bring their horses to this training and we are going to trade horses. \nMeaning? We will take turns loading each other’s horses into each other’s trailers. This is a perfect opportunity in a quiet setting to practice handling and loading horses with which we are unfamiliar with. Also\, it gives our horses the opportunity to load in a trailer they are not familiar with the owner present to give advice. \nMembers that don’t have trucks and trailers are encouraged to come as well as they can team up with single drivers. This is another thing that would happen in an actual emergency. This training is designed to help everyone\, handlers and horses to work with the situation at hand. We hope it is a good experience for all.

SUMMARY:Spring Trailer Rodeo
DESCRIPTION:Our Spring trailer rodeo event will be held rain or shine\, next Saturday\, April 1st at 8:45am. We will be located at:\n\nCal Poly SLO\nin the H-1 Parking Lot\n\n**The first part of your driving practice will be locating this specific lot! You will know you are in the right spot when you see the campus and HEET signage indicating the event!\n\nFor those not familiar with our trailer rodeo\, it is a place to come and practice maneuvering your rig in some tight situations without the worries of holding up traffic. It is a good place to practice and a good place to learn if you are not comfortable driving your rig.\n\nCHP will be there to review rules and regulations. They also provide the unique opportunity to “inspect” our rigs\, provide guidance on any concerns\, and also train us on what to look for on our own.\n\nWe’re excited to get going on our live training post-rain season. ALL trailer types are welcome (does not need to be livestock/horse related) but please do not bring any animals.\n\nSee you soon!

SUMMARY:CPR and First Aid
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT\, THIS COURSE REQUIRES ONLINE TRAINING PRIOR TO THE CLASSROOM STUDY AND NOTIFICATION TO TRAINER TO RESERVE YOUR CLASSROOM TIME PRIOR TO TAKING ONLINE TRAINING. YOU WILL NOT BE CERTIFIED WITHOUT BOTH PORTIONS OF THE TRAINING\nCPR students\,\n \nWHAT:  First Aid/CPR Training (2 part training)\nWHEN: Online portion NOW (anytime prior to hands on training)\nWHEN:  Hands on training 2 March 2024\nWHERE:  Woods Humane Society\n                 875 Oklahoma Ave\nSan Luis Obispo\, CA 93405\nTIME:   9am. – about 11:00am. or 11:15am – 12:45 pm (class size is limited to 9 people\, so you may have to take the later session)\n\n \nThank you for your interest in getting CPR certified or your CPR certification Renewal. Before you take and pay for the online portion of this training\, check with me to make sure I have reserved a spot for you in the desired class.\n \nPlease email me if you are planning to attend the offline portion of this course on March 2nd at:  lydia@lawsonranch.com\nand specify if you prefer 9am or 11:15 am. Classes are limited to 9 persons.\n\nPLEASE NOTE\, IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND THE OFFLINE SESSION ON MARCH 2ND\, YOU WILL NOT BE CERTIFIED IN CPR/FIRST AID.\n \nThis year we will do a blended course that is part online and part in-person. You can begin the online part at your leisure as long as it is complete prior to attending the In-person session for the hands on skills part. The same online session is used for first-time students and for review students. It gives you a chance to take a quiz at the start of each section so you can jump forward in the training if you are a reviewer and it will take less time. Expect to spend 2 to 3 hours online if this is your first time. First Aid education is a lot of information but very useful. At least 1 to 1.5 hours if you are a reviewer. Use a desktop or laptop computer instead of a phone. It will save your progress throughout the course so you do not have to do it in one sitting but I have heard that it can be unreliable on a phone.\n\nTo sign up for the Online session go to:\n\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/classes/adult-first-aid%2Fcpr%2Faed-online/a6R3o000001vqDD.html\nThat link should take you right to the sign up page for the course you want but if for some reason that does not connect from your device you can go to: www.redcross.org > Training and certification > Individuals > Online Only > Adult First Aid\, CPR and AED online\nYou will pay $37 when you register. This cannot be refunded so make sure you are going to be able to come to the in-person part as well because the online part does not result in a certification unless you also do the hands on in-person skills session.\n \nOnce you have completed the online part\, print or take a photo of your completion certificate to bring to me on the day of the in-person session. You will be required to pay an additional $12 at the time of the in-person class and this will cover the fee Red Cross charges for processing and recording your certificate.\n \nIf you have any questions I can be reached at the number below. I look forward to meeting all of you.\n\nLydia Lawson\n805-540-4505\nwww.lifeguardcpr.com\nlydia@lawsonranch.com\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Feb 1\, 2025 Fire Safety with CAL FIRE
DESCRIPTION:February 1st: Fire Safety with CAL FIRE (Community room Airport Station 21\, 4671 Broad Street\, San Luis Obispo): The crew of Airport Station 21 will once again be hosting us for one of our most important training events of the year. This training is especially important for our trailer teams/first responders or anyone who owns a home in fire rich areas. Some of the things they will review is proper clothing/boots to wear while in the field in an emergency\, how to park our vehicles while we are on properties\, how fire moves\, danger signs to look for and the most import part of the class\, the Incident Command System. The ICS is very intricate part of any fire\, large or small and is important for us to learn how it works\, since we are welcomed and encouraged to be at and be a part of the ICS during an emergency.

SUMMARY:August 2\, 2025 Loading Rodeo & Live Drill
DESCRIPTION:August 2nd Loading Rodeo & Live Drill (Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Grounds 4040 Highway 101\, Santa Maria (Gate 2): Something different for this training. We ask everyone to bring their horses to this training and we are going to trade horses. Meaning? We will take turns loading each other’s horses into each other’s trailers. This is a perfect opportunity in a quiet setting to practice handling and loading horses with which we are unfamiliar with. Also\, it gives our horses the opportunity to load in a trailer they are unfamiliar with\, with the owner present to give advice. Members that don’t have a truck and trailer are encouraged to come as well as they can team up with single drivers. This is another thing that would happen in an actual emergency. This training is designed to help everyone\, handlers and horses\, to work with the situation at hand. We hope it is a good experience for all. The other part of the training will focus on the activation of the staging/sheltering trailers\, shelter crew and trailering teams. This training is an important opportunity to enhance our preparedness and operational effectiveness. The horses will be utilized for pick-up at the “specified addresses” given at staging\, along with intake forms and then delivered to the shelter area for intake of the animal. It is essential that all team members participate in this critical exercise.
